Many people seem to overlook the thought of doing things yourself, more commonly when its about making money.
It is really much easier than you might think. People dream about doing things they love and making money at it. You can take a hobby that you have and turn it into profit. For example, I like to build things. I may not be the best at it, but it is always fun and satisfying to have a project such as building a cabinet or restoring an antique bedroom set. You can take something like this, put your skills and intelligence towards an enjoyable project and sell the end result. It's not even very difficult to learn something new like woodworking, with a little practice you can be building and earning a profit!
One of the biggest things is just doing it, and staying positive. I grew up around many negative people. So hearing things like; "That's a waste of time", "If you have to put money in, it's not worth it", "You couldn't sell food to a starving person!", were all very common. None of this is true, you can't think that way or you will be setting yourself up to fail. Mind set is very important in accomplishing ANYTHING that you want to accomplish. Do not forget this.
Are you concerned about money? Don't be! Most things you have to start from scratch hinging solely on your own efforts won't give you huge money returns right away. It is definitely a process, but a very rewarding one in the long run.
I don't recommend jumping head over heels when you're starting out though. Don't bite off more than you can chew and get too excited. Having hopes and aspirations is a good thing, but getting your expectations too high can be a disaster. You will learn a ton of invaluable information to steer you in the right direction as you go a long.
So go find something to build, refurbish, create, and put a steady stream of your focus and effort towards it. I'll give you a couple fantastic areas to get ideas from; woodworking, refurbishment, automotive, the possibilities are endless. Take woodworking for example, I know a man who builds and decorates bird houses, quite good ones targeted at specific species of birds and aesthetically appealing. He started out small, just making a few and displaying them at local bird shows or outdoors-man events. He now goes to every related event in our valley and has many people putting in requests for them. He makes great money doing this now, quit his job, moved out of the urban area, and enjoys nature and his freedom.
Also if you are an artsy or photography person there are many ways you can make money online! Taking pictures to submit online can be quite lucrative!
As always, thanks for reading and feel free to comment or ask a question!
